What is Boomy?

Boomy is a browser-based generative music tool that composes tracks from style presets rather than text prompts. You pick a style — Electronic Dance, Rap Beats, Lo-Fi, Global Groove, Relaxing Meditation, or a Custom style that exposes Density and Tempo controls — and Boomy returns a batch of song options to reject, save, or edit. Editing happens through instrument groups (Harmonics, Drums, Mixing, Sound Effects) that free members can re-roll as blocks, while Creator and Pro members can swap individual instruments. Vocals are not generated from lyrics: Custom Vocals lets you record or upload your own singing, rapping, or top-line as a WAV, and the beta Auto Vocals turns a short sample of your own voice into an algorithmic vocal line. An optional Dolby Remastering add-on cleans up loudness and balance for $9.99 per track.

The most important thing to know about Boomy in 2026 is what it no longer does. Boomy built its reputation on one-click distribution to Spotify and Apple Music with a share of streaming royalties paid back to users, and much of the writing about it still describes that model. That service ended in April 2025. Boomy’s help center now states plainly that it does not offer distribution services except for select artist partners, and that creators instead receive full commercial rights on download and are free to use a distributor of their choice. Creating a release now packages your songs and metadata into a .zip that is emailed to you. Boomy Corporation still owns the copyright to songs by default; Creator and Pro memberships grant full commercial rights to whatever you download while subscribed, and those rights persist after you cancel. Anything more than that — an actual copyright buyout — requires a manual rights request.

Who is it for?

Boomy suits people who want finished-sounding instrumental music without prompting skill, music theory, or a DAW, and who are content to handle distribution themselves. The free tier is an audition only — it grants zero downloads, so nothing leaves the platform until you pay. Anyone whose main goal is AI-sung lyrics from a text prompt is looking at the wrong tool and should compare suno or udio instead.

• Not for anyone expecting Boomy to put their music on Spotify and pay them royalties — that model ended in April 2025, and reaching streaming services now requires a separate distributor.
