What is Recraft?

Recraft is a browser-based AI design platform that generates raster images, native vector graphics, and product mockups from text prompts. Unlike most AI image generators that produce only raster output, Recraft can export design-ready vector files directly — no manual tracing in Illustrator required. The platform runs on Recraft V4.1, its current generation model, which handles complex multi-character scenes, refined lighting, and typography-aware layouts.

The core differentiator is the custom style system. Users upload reference images to define a reusable visual style — color palette, illustration treatment, line weight — that persists across generations without any model fine-tuning. This makes it practical for brand work where visual consistency matters across dozens of assets. The platform also includes editing tools (background removal, AI eraser, region inpainting) and a Creative Upscale feature for producing high-resolution output, though upscaling costs 20 credits per image.

Credit consumption is transparent and usage-based: 1 credit per raster image, 2 credits per vector or mockup, 20 credits for upscaling. Monthly subscription credits reset each billing period and do not roll over. The free tier refreshes 50 credits daily but places all images in a public community gallery with Recraft retaining ownership.
